During the course of the redevelopment of a major former industrial area in Milan, a vast amount of soil and excavated material was produced, so much so that it created a significantly sized hill. It was decided to try to make the waste material an object of landscape diversification and a reservoir of health, revegetating such a hill and making it suitable for recreational exploitation and a natural resource for a heavily populated area.

In order to reconcile naturalistic requirements with those of protection and stabilisation, it was decided to use Virmat three-dimensional pre-seeded geomats, a product that guaranteed the objectives desired by the customer, the securing and greening of deteriorated and complex areas.
