The management company of a major road network, in its capacity as planner, builder and manager of road infrastructure, wanted to test the qualities of an innovative product such as Viresco® Sator pre-seeded biofabric.
The lining, protection and greening of trenches and embankments is the most frequent aspect of nature and environmental management of arterial road agencies.
In order to identify the most practical and effective solutions, it was decided to test the behaviour of Viresco® Sator pre-seeded bio-mat.
The trial was deliberately conducted without any particular care for soil quality and post-laying care, precisely in order to assess the behaviour of the pre-seeded soil under the least favourable conditions.
The results are quite surprising both in terms of aesthetics and in terms of the ability to colonise a surface that is resistant to the vegetation growth, as evidenced by the lack of colonisation of spontaneous vegetation in the surrounding areas. Soil erosion control has also been effectively accomplished; debris runoff and leaching are well controlled and the area is protected and pleasing to the eye.
